· The poetry contest is open to all public, private, and home school students in grades 1-12; college; adults; and Mockingbird Chapter members of Collin County.
· Student winners are chosen from each grade level. First, Second, and Third Place winners receive certificates.
· Opening date for contest is October 15, 2011. Deadline for all submissions is
January 21, 2012.

CONTEST RULES
- Each contestant may enter one poem that may be written in any style and on any subject.
- Poem must be the original work of the contestant.
- Poem is not to exceed 28 lines. (Title and white space between lines or stanzas are not counted.)
- A poem is not eligible that has been published (school publications acceptable).
- Contestants must retain a copy of their poems. Submitted copies of poems will not be returned.
PREPARATION OF ENTRIES
1. Submit two (2) typed copies of poem.
2. In the upper left corner of BOTH COPIES, write grade level; adult; college; or Mockingbird Member.
3. In the upper right corner of ONE COPY, write your identification: name, address, city, zip, age, grade, school (public, private, home school, college), school address, city, zip, teacher’s name, and teacher’s or poet’s email address for winners to be notified.
4. Teachers, please stack each student’s set with the identification copy on top, second copy beneath. Please do not use paper clips. Please do not staple the two copies. PLEASE DO NOT SEND REGISTERED MAIL.
